8 Year Old Girl Abducted from Inside School

Lalumier Elementary, a school in Illinois' Cahokia School District, will now be changing security procedures on its grounds after an incident that occured this week.

An 8 year old female student was in the hallway at the drinking fountain when a man entered the school through a broken door and told her a teacher wanted to speak with her outside. The 20 year old man then took her to a group of dumpsters nearby and attempted to sexually assault her.

Luckily a witness at a nearby apartment yelled for the man to leave the girl alone, and the suspect ran away.

The man was later apprehended nearby, where it was discovered that he was on parole, and wearing an ankle bracelet. It has not been disclosed what crimes the suspect was on parole for.

The girl is reported to be traumatized, but is safe at home with her family.

School District Officials have since implemented a system by which visitors to the school must be buzzed in to enter, and a dozen security cameras have been installed to prevent any further situations of this kind.
