Top 10 Reasons Why Not to Buy a Dell Computer: Reason # 1
We have all seen the commercials for standard Dell computers and their cheap pricing. For instance, the computer that only costs $499. This is not exactly what you’re getting however. I know many people who have tried to call for their special offers only to get turned down because Dell doesn’t believe that it “fits your needs”. They tell you that they can’t sell you a computer you won’t be happy with and the less expensive models are not “good” enough for you. The computer you want is usually not what you end up getting.

So, after being turned down for an affordable model you are told that they need to build you one because all computers they sell at Dell are personalized. $1500 (usually higher) later they have customized a “perfect” system for you.

For the past several years, I have been telling everyone that Dell is not the same company they used to be. I think HP has them beat. Great article!

my first computer was a dell dimension 350mhz.... soaked us for around 2400.00 and I'm glad I learned all I did about dell computers early. bought 2 compaq 2.5 ghz / hp pc's refurbished at auction for 700.00 and they run circles around the dell so far as dependablity and parts availability. dell has some "dedicated" parts which means you'll have a hard time finding them unless you go to dell, so in a sense your computer is being held for ransom by dell all the time you own it. I always check the price and availability of parts and consumables(special paper, ink cartridges, etc) before puchasing the main product, thats how they hook ya.........

Dell is horrible. Not only is the product I bought a piece of crap, the extended warranties I purchased to help me should anything go wrong in the future---actually did nothing for me at all. As a teacher, I sacrificed to buy this laptop and it was not cheap for me. Yet, had I known what I know now about the poor quality of Dell's laptops and their willingness to help its customers-- I would have absolutely never bought from them. I emailed the superintendent of our school district and implored on him to change the computer buy program in the district because it was not worth it. He said he had heard the same complaints from MANY and that they were already considering it. Since then, they no longer buy from DELL. I think that is a HUGE victory for me. I may not have been able to get any satisfaction of service or replacement--but, at least it will be losing money from our school district. I'll take what victories I can get....

Dell computers are great!!! =D I've been using my laptop for 3 years now without a single problem. I would actually highly recommend getting one. The last one that my parents had had some problems with it, but customer service dealt with it right away... maybe its because you don't live in a place like Canada or the U.S..

Another reason not to buy one is that they are in the shop more than they are on your desk. My brother has not had good luck with Dell.
