The Burger king Whopper Versus the Wendy's Classic Single. Which is the Real king of burgers? (part 3)
By: Richard J. Sepulveda

The journey I have undertaken with this series of articles has been a long and fattening one. But I have chosen to put my own well being and waste-line at great personal risk to finally answer the question "whose burgers are the best?" In my first article the Big Mac of MacDonalds could not stand up to the awesome flame-grilled goodness of the Burger king Whopper. In my second article White Castles superior numbers fell to the awesome wrapper and choices of the Wendy's Classic Single. This my last article will attempt to crown finally and forever to true king of burgers. It's the Burger King Whopper taking on the Wendy's Classic Single.

On my return trip to Burger king I ordered two sandwiches one regular Whopper consisting of: A quarter pound flame grilled beef, Mayonnaise, Lettuce, Tomato, Sliced onions, Pickles, ketchup on a sesame seed bun. The second sandwich was a personalized Whopper which is roughly the same as a standard whopper minus the Mayonnaise. I slowly but surely devoured both sandwiches, and talk about hitting the spot! I strongly recommend you picking up some Whoppers if you ever feel your tummy rumbling. No question if your hungry a Whopper will definitely do the trick just smelling them cook is enough to make ones mouth water with anticipation. Although a single Whopper should be enough for a normal person consisting of 760 calories but for a seasoned veteran of fast food like myself I can handle two of them.

Takeaways
  • The King of Burgers should be judged by the individual but I believe my decision was just.

Although I have cut down Fast food to about once or twice a month maximum. White Castles are, by far, the best tasting. Onion, ketchup and ONE pickle. Unfortunatly, I live in FL, we do not have WC here! How can you judge a good burger with all of those toppings on them. I challenge anyone to compare any of the burgers with only a bun and meat on it. That is a true test. I prefer the BK double whopper with ketchup ONLY! Try eating a Big Mac like that! Wendy's burgers are too sloppily put together and greasy. The Big mac is too dry and has no taste without any toppings. If I had to put them in order of goodness, here are my choices (in order). White Castles, Burger King, Checkers, Wendys, McDonalds.

Well, I guess technically it is a broiler, but it could be more accurately described as a chain driven grate that travels across open gas flames. Once upon a time, they actually churned out a pretty good burger, but today's product is pretty bad. Places like this don't care about their food anymore, it's all about the numbers$$$. As long as people are willing to eat this kind of junk they'll keep on churning it out, and in the process cheapen it up as much as they can. I read a while back that they were in such trouble that they brought back a former executive to help them "fix" the Whopper. They didn't even know how to make them like they originally did anymore. Did you know they used fake mayonaisse? Do yourself a favor and eat at a locally owned place, and maybe these places will shape up or disappear. Their food today is plain nasty.

No no no no no. There is no way you can claim that Burger King's Whopper is better than a Wendy's single (or more appropriately double). Wendy's is closer to a "real" hamburger than anything Burger King offers. The meat is better, the toppings fresher, and Wendy's never NEVER puts their burgers in a microwave, something Burger King does today with great abandon. There is nothing nastier than a Whopper with a piping hot pickle, lettuce and tomato slice on it. I'm sorry, but if you want a burger at one of today's "joints", and want it to at least approximate a real hamburger, Wendy's wins hands down. The Whopper (and a lot of other f.f. items) were ruined when drive through speed became a priority at these places.

if the food wasnt cook in so much soy bean oil then maybe people would eat there more often. i wanted a burger not a ball of grease

the food is gross when it drips grease and is sloppy that just makes you want to gagg. if they got most of the grease off the food and then mayby it would taste better......

The "machine" you are referring to is not a grill. It is a broiler. I assure you that the temps are so high no bacteria could withstand it. Other burgers are done on a grill. Those make me sick. The meat just sits there and cooks in its own fat.

I don't know how the Whopper beat the Big Mac. Have you ever seen the machine that the Whopper patties come out of? Disgusting. When I eat a Whopper, my body feels sick afterwards. God knows how much bacteria must be on the grilling machine and transferred to the patties.
