Valentine Day can cost a bundle if you let it. You want to show your partner how much you love them and may think that the way that you should do that is to buy expensive presents. But you can celebrate without spending allot of money. If you are married think back to when you were dating without allot of cash to spend but were just glad to spend time together and eating at a cheap restaurant. It was just the excitement of being with them.

Start the day off on a romantic note. Slip a note into a place that they will find it during the day. Build the excitement early in the day so that your partner will look forward to coming home. Tell them that there will be a surprise waiting for them when they get home. You can also leave a voicemail on the phone that they can check during the day. Leave little hints of what you have planned for them when they get home.

Do something unique. Paint a sign and put in the front yard proclaiming your love for your partner so that everyone driving on the street will see. This will mean more to your partner than flowers or chocolate.

Cook a special meal. You can serve it by candle light and serve dinner after the kids go to bed, and you are alone with your partner. Or if you don't want to cook, order in. considering having pizza by candle light and even though it isn't a gourmet dinner it will still be very romantic. For desert think hearts, Make Jell-O in heart shapes, or heart shape piece of cake with a heart shaped scoop of ice cream. Bake heart shape cookies and decorate them for your spouse then customize the messages that you put on the cookies. The meal doesn't have to fancy it's the atmosphere that is created around the meal. During the meal, turn off all the lights and play some romantic music or songs that you played while you were dating and have special meaning to you.

Write a poem and print and frame it. It doesn't matter if it is a award winning poem, just write your feelings in your own words and use a fancy font add some clip art then frame it. If it comes from the heart it will mean more to your partner than a dozen of roses.
