A quarterback named Manning will be playing in a league championship game this Sunday, but it is Eli, not Peyton, that will be helming his team for a shot at Super Bowl XLII. Lead by Eli Manning, the New York Giants will challenge the Green Bay Packers for the National Football Conference Championship Game at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin on Sunday, January 20, 2008. The winner of that game will advance to Super Bowl XLII.

The Giants, winners of four pre-Super Bowl National Football League Championships and two Super Bowls, and the Packers, winners of pre-Super Bowl NFL titles and three Super Bowls (including the first two NFL-AFL Championship Games held in 1967 and 1968, now recognized as Super Bowls), are two of the most venerable teams in National Football League history.

There are many Web sites devoted to news about the Giants, including the team's own Official Web Site, Giants.com. The official site contains stats, up-to-date news, a game report, multimedia, and a Fan Zone.

The Big Apple is served by four major dailies, the New York Times, the New York Daily News, the New York Post, and Newsday.

The Times is the national newspaper of record and one of the great newspapers of the world, but its seriousness obviated its having a sports page until the 1980s. The two New York tabloids, the Daily News and the Post & Long Island's Newsday provide much more lively coverage, but for those who like their sports, as well as their news and opinions, high-brow, the Times offers sports coverage, football coverage, and Giants coverage.
