What Would They Have Done If Intelligent Life From Another Planet Had Landed?

The American media. The single most dependable entity in American society today. Comforting. Steadfast. Predictable. Was there anyone in America-except for Ann Coulter and others who spend hours and hours trying to convince you the conglomerate-owned American media is liberal-who didn't know exactly what the top story would be the day a judge ruled that President Bush's NSA domestic spying program was illegal AND the confessed killer of JonBenet Ramsey was found? ABC, CBS and NBC came through their trial with flying colors. Each one led off with the JonBenet Ramsey killer confession story.

Never mind that John Mark Karr was saying he first picked up JonBenet Ramsey from school (she was on Christmas vacation), and never mind that he claimed that he had drugged her (no drugs were found in her system), and never mind that he said JonBenet's death was an accident (seemingly impossible unless the six year old had given consent to play some sort of bizarre S&M game with him), and never mind that Karr's wife says he was with her in Alabama the day of the murder. Apparently, there are enough pieces of evidence we haven't yet been made privy to that was enough to convince every single television news organization of Karr's guilt and therefore justify making it not just the top story on the network broadcasts, but pretty much the only story on the 24 hour channels. Heck, Dan Abrams even returned to the anchor desk from his new managerial position to cover the story, so you know it was important.

As for that other story, the one which begins the path to the Supreme Court where the very same justices who either appointed Bush President or whom he appointed as Justice will rule that his spying program is, in fact, the single most constitutional action any President has ever undertaken...well, at least the most liberal of all the American news bureaus-CBS-covered it in detail. They almost gave a full minute of coverage to it the NSA spying program being declared unconstitutional.

Takeaways
  • Can you really accidentally garotte someone to death?
  • Ford Motor to cut production; then go right on staking their future on gas-guzzling trucks.
  • Why hasn't Karl Rove denied that he had a three-way with Laura Bush and Ann Coulter?

Dear sir, you do indeed have my most sincere apology for unfairly comparing a truly beautiful animal such as the golden retriever to the blindness-inducing ugliness of Rectal Noun.

Mr. Sexton, sir! I take umbrage with your ASSignation of the beautiful, golden long-haired, dignified, loyal and faithful Golden Retriever to Miss Rectal Noun. I feel an apology to the AKC and all Retriever owners is forthcoming. However, it may be moot, as the proper comparative breed would be the Afghan Hound. A breed of known similarities to Miss Noun in its height, near anorexic shape, long yellow hair, pointy nose, aloof and snobbish gait. I can only hope your SOAP analysis proves faulty in the 'connectivity powers' of the internet. Never having seen the anagram before I salute and applaud its originator. On electronic wings may it fly and defecate its existence throughout the English reading world to then be seen for what it really is. Bravo sir, bravo!!

Stephanie, I hope you are right...it is a critical vote-one way leads back toward constitutional rights, the other down a very ugly road...

Sick and sad, indeed. The Karr story is so disturbing. Then again, so is Snakes on a Plane.

I think we have a good chance that the Supreme Court will declare the NSA "Spying-Without-Warrants" program unconstitutional. Souter, Ginsberg, Stevens, and Breyer will all vote to declare it unconstitutional. As wishy-washy and weak as Justice Kennedy usually is, he's in a bad mood recently about government overreaching. And there's the possibility that Scalia will choose the right side simply because he is protective of judicial independence. So, even with the four justices of the apocolypse seated on the court, we may be ok on this.
