1. Greet your loved one first thing in the morning with a Valentine pancake. Bits of raspberries or other red fruit mixed into the batter could create a festive pancake. Write your own valentine message with raspberry or strawberry sauce. Add whipped cream for frills.
2. Get some dove chocolates and inside each wrapper leave a little message. It could be romantic, or it could just say things you love about your loved one. Leave them in strategic places for a delightful discovery throughout the day.
3. For pet lovers out there, dress up your pet with some flowers or ribbon. Tie a special message addressed to your loved one and send your pet to greet them. Maybe even add a little gift.
4. Write a song for your loved one to a familiar tune. Depending on the intent of the mood, pick the tune accordingly, whether cheesy or serious. Cheesy isn't always bad. Sometimes it can be appreciated if you're saying I love you.
5. Have a late night sundae date. Don't spare anything! Set up the kitchen table for a sundae delight....hot fudge, cookie chunks, whipped cream, etc.
6. Italian is always romantic. Just remember Lady and the Tramp. I highly recommend pasta with a white wine sauce. Find a recipe on the internet. White wine butter sauce is always amazing. Add sun dried tomatoes for a valentine flavor. For decoration, find an old wine or oil bottle and stick a candle in the top. It's authentic Italian.
7. Picnics are also romantic, but it's a little cold in February. What about an indoor picnic? Clear out a room. Have a nice blanket ready with the candles cheese, grapes, French bread, wine, etc. Maybe even bring some potted plants in the room for that outdoor effect.
