Manitou Springs is at the foot of Pike's Peak, just west of Colorado Springs, about an hour from Denver. Attractions include Cave of the Winds, Garden of the Gods, Pike's Peak Cog Railroad and Cliff Dwellings Museum.

Manitou Springs grew up around the gold mines of the Pikes Peak area in the late 1850s. After the populations of gold miners and prospectors dwindled, travel to the town slowed. In the late 1800's Manitou Springs became known for the natural healing mineral springs. People traveled from all over the country for the healing benefits of the medicinal waters and the healthfully dry mountain air. Over one hundred years later, the mineral springs are still flowing.
