Barack Obama Denounces Louis Farrakhan

Anti-Defamation League Satisfied that Obama is Not Anti-Semitic

It's time to stop blaming Barack Obama for his minister's decision to honor Louis Farrakhan. If Obama's denouncement of Farrakhan's anti-Semitism is good enough for the Anti-Defamation League, it should be good enough for us.

First there was a ridiculous mass e-mail preying on people's fears and ignorance, which stated that Barack Obama is a Muslim, was sworn into office on the Koran and refuses to say the Pledge of Allegiance. None of these "facts" are true, and I find the idea
 that he's unfit for office due to being a Muslim (even though it's untrue) patently offensive anyway.

Now the minister of the church Obama attends has made a big, ugly public gaffe by honoring Louis Farrakhan as one who "truly epitomized greatness" and bestowing him with the Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. Trumpeter Award. Is this wrong? Of course it is-Louis Farrakhan is on the record as being bigoted, anti-Semitic, and ignorant of basic history and reality.

Does that mean that Barack Obama agrees with his minister that Louis Farrakhan is a great American? Of course it doesn't. Anyone who can say that their spiritual leader has never made a public statement that is offensive to his or her own beliefs is either lying or has been brainwashed. For example, I'm Roman Catholic and the leader of my church is Pope Benedict. He has stated publicly that women should not be priests. Not only do I think this is wrong, ignorant and short-sighted, I think the exact opposite-that allowing women to be priests might save Catholicism.

There is a difference between me and Barack Obama, of course-I'm not running for president so no one cares what I think. (In case I ever do run for president, though, I hereby officially denounce Pope Benedict's sexism.)

Under the circumstances it behooved the candidate to decry Farrakhan publicly if he didn't agree with him, which is exactly what Barack Obama did: Obama immediately made a statement condemning Louis Farrakhan's anti-Semitic rhetoric and stating emphatically that he disagreed with Dr. Wright's choice of award recipients.

I hope to see hypocrites like Obama fail as he is trying to drag America into the mud with socialist and anti GOD values galore. Democrats and liberals are good at downing God and the influences of the Church.

barak had to denounce louis farrakahn if he wanted to get elected. i don't think that folks in the bible belt would have been down with a candidate who is friends with the leader of the nation of islam. he had to denounce him publically. barak and farrakahn live a few blocks away from each other here in chicago.

minister louis farrakhan and president obama is for the rights of the people here in america first let set afew of you guides straight about minister farrakhan he is the one that keeps us from dieing a mental death his only doing what Allah has sent him out to do ,is create knowedge rather than stupitiness allah work his activity in through to have us blind death and dumb to be reginerated into the people Allah want us tobe, so for those who speak against a man that allah has appointed to help us should rot in hell and seal the doors behind them. as for obama he is also one of the bravies blackman to ever spoked his way all theway to where is brothea's and sistea's remember this we all come from the same place we shall return back as we came. so don't be a hater be a congraduater.Both minister farrakhan and obama is succeeding in doing the most powerful things and that's bringing on the strongiest CHANGE IN AMERICA AND AROUND THE WORLD. so stop your ignorance and join in.

I must say, this renews my faith in Obama. He's still not my choice, but I will feel better if he wins, knowing he doesn't endorse that Farrakhan's racists views!

Obama was raised upper middle, went to Harvard, spent 3 years in practice and has done nothing but give speeches until he was elected to the Senate. I don't see any "from the streets" or "having a real job" to understand the average american.

For the record Farrakhan IS a racist that hates whites,jews and christians and he DOES NOT represent black people as a whole! I AM black , born and raised in the hood,and I'm not a so-called Uncle Tom! Obama is a very intelligent and well informed candidate and he has earned my vote. Thanks!
