For some, finding the ultimate restaurant for Valentine's day is a matter of pride. Whether you have a taste for buffet style food, the best brunch in town, or simply the best cup of coffee anywhere, the taste is the same, even during Valentine's day. How often, however, do you think about where to go for breakfast? In the early morning hours, coffee percolates noisily as pancakes meet the griddle. Small-town diners across the United States have been serving up good, hot breakfasts since the country was born, and although breakfast has become something of a lost institution, there really is nothing quite like a stack of syrup-laced pancakes with a side of sausage to get your day started off right, and show your woman that you're thinking about her all day long.

The American diner hasn't died. Cholesterol hasn't completely clogged that artery. They are, however, getting rare. Long-haul truckers know where to find them, and locals know where to find them. Other than that, there isn't much info to go on, except for a few very special places here and there. Some of the very best made this list, and if you make it through Georgia just as the biscuits are pulled from the oven, than each of these places is worth stopping by.

The Breakfast Club is located at 1500 Butler Ave, Tybee Island, GA 31328 (912) 786-5984. You won't need a reservation to get in, but you will need to wait in line. This local breakfast spot has been voted Savannah's best place to eat breakfast for eleven years in a row! The hospitality is unbeatable, as is their homemade sausage, and their "locally famous" Pecan waffle. There is no finer way to spend an hour in a restaurant.

With consistently high ratings from online, newspaper, and in-person sources, the Thumbs up diner at 573 Edgewood Ave SE (404) 223-0690 is an Atlanta rarity. With an upbeat atmosphere and the attitude of "relax, it's just eggs," you won't find a better downtown tradition to begin on your way to work.
