I recently had the opportunity to use the HF End-Fedz wire dipole antenna from PAR Electronics. While I was initially skeptical of the performance of this portably deployable transmitting and receiving antenna for high frequency (HF) amateur radio use, I was extremely impressed with the performance of this antenna while operating QRP (low-power) while on vacation. I highly can highly recommend the PAR Electronics End-Fedz wire antenna to any ham radio operator or shortwave listener who desires top-notch performance from an easy-to-erect portable antenna.

The PAR Electronics HF End-Fedz wire antennas are available for all HF amateur bands from 10 Meters through 40 Meters, including the WARC bands. The version that I had opportunity to use was the 20 Meters version in conjunction with my Wilderness Radio SST QRP transceiver. The PAR Electronics End-Fedz was the ideal antenna for portable use due to its needing only a single support to erect the antenna. Many traditional amateur antennas, such as the traditional resonant dipole antenna, require two supports, which would be impractical for highly portable and temporary use. In addition to easy deployment, the PAR Electronics End-Fedz antennas are designed to be resonant on the desired frequency bands, which means that an antenna tuner is not required when using the End-Fedz antenna (meaning, of course, that one's amateur station is even more portable than with antennas requiring a tuner).

Takeaways
  • PAR Electronics End-Fedz wire antennas are available for all amateur HF bands from 10-40 Meters.
  • PAR Electronics End-Fedz antennas are perfect for QRP or QRO.
