The identity perspective seems the most in line with Christianity because it "emphasizes the importance of ideas that define the identities of the actors and motivate the use of power and negotiations by these actors." (Nau) Our identity and ideals as Christians are clearly laid out in Matthew 28:16-20, which is called the Great Commission. It instructs the faithful to spread the word of God to all nations and to instruct them in the ways of the Lord. As Christians it is our duty to encourage everyone we meet to follow Christ, which is seen in Mark 1:17, which says, '"Come, follow me,' Jesus said, 'and I will make you fishers of men." (Holy Bible, NIV)

Another examples is a great lesson taught in the bible, which adopts the identity perspective. It instructs us to look past the current situation at hand and confront evil for what it is. Many will view a problem only for its surface value and hope that through negotiation or through a show of power, the situation will be resolved. Looking at Luke 19:41-44, we can quickly observe either the surface issues and conclude what is going on or if we dig deeper into the ideas that are shaping the events and actors, we get a clearer overall message.

"As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it and said, 'If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace-but now it is hidden from your eyes. The days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and encircle you and hem you in on every side. They will dash you to the ground, you and the children within your walls. They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of God's coming to you.'"

From the outset, some would see this as a prediction that a greater power will take over but it in reality is a warning for others to open their eyes. This is a warning against national confrontation and triumphalism and confronts evil for what it is while confronting it head on. Unless you change the underlying ideals, the problem will still exist.
