One of the most enjoyable parts of living in southern New Jersey is the plenitude of small, personal shops in our area. On a recent day off together, my husband and I decided to spend the morning browsing through all the antique shops in our town. After spending quite a bit of time in one area shop, we decided to take advantage of the unseasonably warm weather and venture further down Bay Avenue on foot. We were drawn to The Gold Duster due to it's inviting exterior. Although The Gold Duster had been in business for quite awhile, this was the first time we had the opportunity to take a leisurely stroll throughout the store. I was very glad that we did. The Gold Duster is located at 695 East Bay Avenue in Barnegat, New Jersey.

Immediately upon entering The Gold Duster, I was struck by the warm and serene atmosphere. There was soft music playing as well as a pleasant scent in the air. The lighting was comfortable and relaxing. I later learned that this was because The Gold Duster uses motion sensors to provide adequate lighting for the interior of the store. I was impressed by the proprietor's dedication to conserving energy. This is certainly not something you encounter in any stores at the mall.To the right of the front door is a wide selection of gem stones and velvet bags. Over the display hangs an informative board with explanations of each gemstone and the powers each gemstone provides. For a nominal fee, you can fill either a medium or large velvet bag with the gemstones of your choice.

Upon venturing further into The Gold Duster, I was intrigued by the layout of the store. There are several areas of the store which are reached by going down groups of stairs. The store contains many nooks and crannies. There are truly surprises around every corner. I knew this was a store that I was going to enjoy spending time in.

This sounds lovely, Lisa. I like to look around antique shops. I often come across antiques from the UK for some reason. As soon as I see them from across the shop, I just seem to know where they are from. I'm not even an antique expert. Sophie
