This is not a story of a father who didn't have a father and so he's going to be the best dad he can be because he didn't have a father. No, this is a father who had a father, not just a father but a big family with a mom, dad, and siblings. My husband has 3 brothers and 2 sisters. He is the oldest out of all 6 of them and his youngest brother/sibling will be 16.

My husband has always been a great person to everyone. To his parents, extended family, daughters, wife, but he has the ultimate relationship with his son. They are extremely close and do just about everything together aside from work and school. We have been coaching our son in Pony Baseball since he was 3 years old. When he was 6 my husband started coaching him in basketball, and when he was almost 7, he coached him in flag football. Football is my husbands first love when it comes to sports, then basketball, then baseball. However, my son's first love is baseball, basketball, then football. I know that my husband would love it the other way around, but that is one thing that he and my son do not share is the desire to play football.

My husband was an avid football player from little kiddie till his senior year in high school. He made it into newspapers, heisman trophy's, all kinds of awards. He even has his number up in the gym where he played. However, our son prefers baseball overall. He knows the game and is a fanatic for it. My husband, my son and I are huge N.Y. Yankee fans, and our son has a huge Yankee collection on all walls of his room. His mentor player is Derek Jeter. He admires this man for more than just baseball. For the last nine years our son has been playing baseball, my husband has not only coached him but taught him how to be a good team player, work hard but have fun, learn all you can, patience, you name it.

When I would go to practice and watch them, it would melt me inside. My husband wanted to make sure that my son didn't just know how to play baseball, he wanted him to know is backwards and forwards, but he would never pressure my son, he would wait for my son to come and ask and then he would deliver. If my husband didn't know what the answer was, he would find out and teach my son.

Takeaways
  • Relationships between a father and his son and how you can make it work
  • Be there for you child no matter what
  • Fathers know best
Did You Know?
I believe that my husband and son are good examples of what could be. It show's in my story. Fact is: to spend as much time with your children because eventually they will just want to hang out with there frriends instead of you.

Great touching article, Wise Lady. It's nice to watch a man interact with his children, especially if he's a great father. Your husband sounds like a great father. I have a four year old son myself. He loves his daddy a lot. Great read!
