Why I Am Pro-Euthanasia

Euthanasia is a very touchy topic for most people. Everyone has an opinion of the topic, which is their right. I have a differing opinion than most because I am in fact pro-euthanasia. Before anyone comments saying, "What are you thinking please read on." Euthanasia is defined as the
"intentional killing by act or omission of a dependent human being for his or her alleged benefit" (Euthanasia.com, n.d.). Just from the definition, it is my honest opinion that when they mention omission, I think of a DNR on patients. A DNR is a legal document that a person has signed stating that they do not want to be resuscitated. When someone stops breathing and their heart stops everyone is resuscitated and their life is at least attempted to be saved unless they have a DNR. In a sense, a DNR is assisted suicide. This is the whole reason why I am pro-euthanasia.

If you are terminally ill, why would you want to be brought back to live in pain? For instance, when CPR is done, and done right the majority of the time ribs are bruised and broken. So not only with the terminal patient be in pain from whatever disease they have, they will have this pain on top of that. Why is it right for anyone to say that it is not ok for someone to die? Who honestly has that right? God and only God. My father has signed a DNR, my mother has signed one, and my husband and I are going to. Does that make people think that we want to die? Or that we are committing suicide when we die? There are so many bigger questions that need to be answered.

Assisted suicide or euthanasia is it humane or not?
Euthanasia and all forms of a patient's right to terminate his or her life, or have his or her life terminated by another in the interest of ending suffering, are considered in the argument about a patient's "Right to Die."
One political and social issue that consumes Americans today is the right to decide one's own fate, or that of someone else. Is it possible to regulate death? Is it not worse, in some cases, for a person to continue living than it would be if he or she were to die?
A research group lead by the University of Utah says there is no evidence that legalizing doctor-assisted suicide will result in disproportionate numbers of vulnerable peoples' lives being ended prematurely by doctors or family members.
This paper evalutes the coevolution of the medical and legal worlds as shown through Melvin Urofsky's book on the legal history of assisted suicide, Lethal Judgments.
When the average American thinks of assisted suicide, the first thing that comes to mind is likely the infamous Dr. Jack Kevorkian, dubbed the Angel of Death, who was imprisoned in 1999 for helping some terminally ill people to end their lives. But despit
Review of the controversial 2004 film, The Sea Inside. It follows the life of Ramón Sampedro, a man who fought much of his life for assisted suicide.

Idiots. There is nothing wrong with signing a DNR, or deciding to be euthanized when all else looks like a hopeless prolonging of pain and expense. Deciding to "let nature take its course" is a far cry from suicide. Idiots.

I like how ironic Liam's comment is. And self-defeating, in that "your" is supposed to be "you're," and usually telling someone to go to eternal pain and suffering...causes pain and suffering. On the topic, though, there are other ways to stop pain, such as medication, or therapy. Death isn't needed to end pain. Another note: the laws aren't in the way of someone dying--they're simply in the way of a doctor killing a patient through euthanasia and physician-assisted suicide in most of the world.

Absolutely true. Americans have the right to their own opinions. If you are ill or injured and you wish to be put out of your misery then you should have the right to have this done.

I agree with this article. I feel that if someone is making the choice to be terminated, then so be it. Everyone has the obligation of choice, that is what America is based on, Autonomy. Someone taking his/her own life, there are other ways of coaping, but if you have an illness, that is different. No one should have to live in pain.

A DNR happens after you are dead, so it is not euthanasia to die and not want to be revived. Euthanasia is putting someone to death. Euthanasia means "good death" but we have to read about Holland they put a lady down for having arthritis in her toes. Anyone can asked for it and get it. Oregon has it, and so far it has worked. Be careful! We have to watch out for people who want to live, such as people with disabilities, because they are killed in Holland.

I am also pro-euthanasia. I believe that it is a persons right if they believe that its their time to go than it's their time to go. I myself would not ever want to be in a situation were i have to depend on someone else just to stay alive. Thats not the way i want to live and i dont think it should be someone elses responsibility to take care of me. I also wouldnt want to be kept alive by any kind of machine.
