At the Judge Rotenberg Center for the retarded in Massachusetts they give electric shocks to the retarded as "treatment". When a retarded person does something bad, they get an electric shock. But why not find out what causes the retardation in the first place? Chemical imbalances in the brain, often aminoacidopathies such as PKU, cause many cases of mental deficiency. Why not correct these chemical errors by diet and see what happens? The same is largely true of mental illness, except that these unfortunates get electric shocks to the brain.
Cancer
This same vegan diet, which I designed to fight mental illness, may also be useful for the prevention and treatment of cancer. There are several reasons for this which are quite complex. It seems that meat is a risk factor for cancer, possibly because of carcinogens in meat. Fruits and vegetables are considered protective of cancer. I have written several articles on this already, and I will not repeat these entire articles. Search in either gather.com or associatedcontent.com for these articles. Search for my name, Craig Olson, and "cancer".
The vegan diet is also favored by animal rights activists. I am in favor of animal rights, but I am mostly interested in the health benefits of the vegan diet. I did not invent the vegan diet, but I modified it for my own purposes. Sugar is vegan, but is frowned upon in my version of the vegan diet. I call it the Boston diet. The diet has no cholesterol, so it is also good for the heart.
Modifications to the Vegan Diet
The vegan diet itself is very healthy, but I have made certain modifications to it to lower the protein intake and to restrict sucrose (table sugar). Certain plant foods such as soybeans, beans, bread, etc. are high in protein. These are to be restricted because in mental illness tryptophan floods the brain. I have written many articles about this fact, and I am not going to repeat everything here. Consult the references. Unfortunately sugar pumps tryptophan into the brain by a complex mechanism involving insulin. Therefore sugar is a problem.

Psychosurgery has had a checkered past. Freeman had his surgical license cancelled when a patient died from a lobotomy. It seems that a blood vessel was cut by mistake.
