Parents are the care givers of their children. Most have hopes and dreams of them becoming successful people leading active lives with good careers. But what happens when a child who grows up starts to become something that their parents weren't expecting?

Yes, MANY young adults have to deal with the time when they choose a partner in life, they have to choose a career, what school should they go to? But more commonly we hear quite a few stories on what to do when your parents haven't taken in the fact that you aren't that unorganized high school student, or worse; that clumsy fifth grader still having trouble with their homework?

Parents who love their children of course only want what's best for their offspring. Some times some financial help is there, paying for college, lending the use of the washing machine/dryer, helping out possibly to lighten the hardships that come from the inexperience of living on one's own for the first time, maybe some groceries or a little cash on occasion to help out; this is all fine! But there IS a point in which a parent is crossing that line between helping and hurting. If you're not sure if your parent (or parents it could be one or both doing this) might be crossing that line, ask yourself a few of these questions (regardless of your living situation).

Is my parent still trying to pick up after me? (IE trying to do my dishes, my laundry, clean my room or apartment, or putting away things that seem in their eyes out of place.)

Is my parent trying to separate me from making decisions WITH my partner and trying to help me instead of having my partner give me advice?

Are they demanding to know my work schedule even though it has no effect on them? (IE you have your own transportation; they aren't driving you around or paying your gas money)

Does my parent call me more than six times a week to see what I've been doing or to check my working status or the status of a partner?

I enjoyed your article. It gave me a lot to think about. Hopefully, this will be an inspiration to other young adults out there as well as teenagers who will soon come to know what it is like to grow up.
