With the writers' out on strike until who knows when, there isn't a whole lot of "good" television on these days. Granted, there are only of shows on TV that I actually watch regardless of whether or not there are writers working. Mostly, I'll put on whatever sporting event I stumble across while flipping through. It was during one of these nights that a brilliant idea came to me; an idea full of so much genius and promise that I had to share it with all of you out there.

There should be live sporting events on TV every night.

Before you begin your snickering out there (Carol, I'm talking to you), this idea really makes a whole lot of sense for everybody involved. Also, I'm not suggesting that this should take place forever and ever, amen. This plan should only be implemented until the strike is over and the writers are back putting together below-average scripts for mediocre TV shows.

First of all, putting on live sporting events every night would benefit the networks. You can't tell me that NBC wouldn't get better ratings for an NHL game featuring Sidney Crosby than if the network put on a two-year old rerun of The Office. Of course, the leagues themselves could benefit from this as well. Advertising revenue alone would help, not to mention increased interest by the fans.

The beauty of this plan is that the networks (CBS, ABC, NBC, FOX) wouldn't even have to broadcast these sporting events every night. They could use cable stations, as well. This idea of mine may seem like it's way out there but in reality it's very easy to implement. In a nutshell, here is how the idea works.

This sounds like a good plan to me.

Eh, I don't know about more NBA and College Basketball, there is plenty on television and if you want more college basketball see if ESPN360 .com works on your computer. I'm all for more hockey though. I've been trying to check out the NHL since the new changes but the only games we get in Alabama are random Atlanta games once every two weeks.

I'm in favor of anything that means fewer Law & Order reruns.

... I oppose! If it came down to this, I would seriously end up renting every DVD to known to man until it ended. I'm sure that my boyfriend would "fourth" it though!

I'll "third" this idea since Sophie's husband will second it ;-) Hey, it doesn't even have to be live events...show past superbowls!

I know my husband would love to have sports on TV every day. So I know he would second this idea! Sophie
