10 Reasons Why You Should NOT Buy the Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower Cleaner

A Wasteful and Short Lived Novelty

This product is designed to clean your shower using an electronic spray device that distributes an evaporative cleaner throughout your shower.  While no one enjoys scrubbing down the bathroom walls, it is a price we have to pay for cleanliness. For now, there’s no product
that can do it any better.

1. First of all, the Automatic Shower Cleaner hangs from the shower head which can take up valuable space otherwise used for shower caddies and more useful storage. I had to take down my hanging shower rack and clutter the corners of the tub with my soap, shampoo, and shaving razors. Save some space. Don’t buy it.

2.  The 360 degree coverage by the rotating sprayer is limited, not reaching much higher than chest level and missing the area directly below. While the rotation does reach all four “walls,” large areas remain untouched. I’ve found that even using the spray-it-yourself ‘mist away’ cleaner reaches more area than this product.

3. The cleaning fluid bottles last around two weeks (depending upon how clean you like it) which adds up to an extra $6-$8 per month on refills. While paying extra money for technologies of convenience is rampant, doing so monthly for a flawed concept can be quite inconvenient. The spray dispersion is insufficient, inefficient, and in the end, expensive.

4. The cleaning fluid goes fast due to much of the spray being wasted on the back wall, the wall the device hangs on. The same amount gets sprayed on the back wall that gets sprayed on the rest of the shower. While that one surface may be gleaming, the other walls are a different shade of “clean.”

5. The sprayer also fails to cover surfaces uniformly, its streams only reaching streaky areas whereas a finer mist would produce more even coverage. The spray is designed to reach surfaces up to 8 feet away, but the power it needs to do so sacrifices much of its ability to consistently cover closer areas.

I love the product, but even with doing everything the troubleshooting recommends, we have to buy a new unit every 6 months. New batteries and drying it out don't seem to work for us.

That was a pretty shady "review". No it does not keep your shower sparkling but it does help quite a bit. I had a shower door I thought was frosted but after using the shower cleaner what I thought was frosting started to disappear. I enjoy this product and will continue using it. If you are breaking the bank with an extra $8 bucks a month then perhaps you should sit down and figure out your finances. As far as taking up precious space the unit comes with a shower caddy which has plenty of space for my needs.

I have my shower scrubber for over a year and had to replace the first one when it quit working. In repsonse to James Lower's comments: It doesn't have to hang from the shower head. I have place a 3-shelf corner unit designed for the shower which works out great for my husband and I. 360 degree coverage; only reaches chest high - this is true, however, we water rinse our shower each time one of us uses it then use the scrubber, which works great for us. My replacement bottles last longer than 2 weeks and we use it daily. Yes, we do have to replace the batteries. The ones currently in use are over 2 months old. (6) one scent/overpowering. I don't have a problem with overpowering scent and I don't like strong, lingering smells. Why should the beeping be annoying? It is short-term and lets you know the unit is working. Lastly, it does meet my standards. The reason I got one to begin with was mold build up in the corners of the shower, which has now been resolved. Thank you

We have had ours for months now and it works fine and I haven't had to change the original batteries yet. We use it at least 4 times a week and it does keep our shower clean. It even cleaned the shower for me the first couple of weeks and I have not had to scrub yet! I am buying 8 more to give as Christmas gifts this year! Yes, it may cost us more but, doesn't anything that is convenient? We spend our money on less useful things!

That was lame. It's obvious you don't like the thing, but you're really reaching with most of those reasons. Why don't you stop putting gas in your car. That's a never ending expense too.

Only couple of the reasons are "reasonably true". The device works fine for me; I don't have to scrub soap scum off the walls/glass anymore. As for the price of refills; it costs what it costs, if you can't or don't want to afford the extra price for convenience, too bad for you. I'll pay the $3.60 every 4-6 weeks no problem. I might do the homemade cheapo refills if I get bored, but I'm not doing it exclusively.

What a terribly negative review! And way off! The reviewer is clearly trying to find something wrong with this product; and couldnt be more off base. Fist off, the product works and works well. The sprayers wasnt meant to disperse an even spray on every surface. Instead, it "feeds a run". It works with gravity and the water left on the surfaces to coat everything as it runs down and evaporates. Regular use ensures this. As with ANY cleaner, you're never going to stop paying for it. This is no different. And if your worried about stubbing your toes as you run from tub escaping the spray, then exit the tub first, then reach in and press the button.

Super review; I agree with you. I got one because it was very cheap after coupons/rebate, but don't think I'll continue using it.

You're probably right. I just got one and was immediately disappointed how it doesn't reach the back shower curtain opposite it that's only about 4 feet away. Way closer than the 8 feet it claims to reach. It also doesn't go higher than about 4 feet, leaving the top untouched. As far as hanging it on showerhead and having to remove caddy already there, I just hung it on top of that. The rubber keeps it from slipping and now its tilted a little towards the ceiling so now it reaches about 5 feet or so. Still not very powerful. I'm going to try hanging it off the shower curtain in the middle to get better coverage. This way it will reach all the walls. I also will be using cheapo refills. Screw paying all that money for the same thing. I'll still be cleaning but it will save some work I think. We'll see. You can also remove it after it's finished instead of leaving it hang there all the time. Not a big deal.

See http://www.instructables.com/id/ED6KEYAX7HET9K5VO8/?ALLSTEPS for alternative method of filling for $1. For the hanging stuff, use a shower curtain ring and hang the hanger on the towel rack. Not quite as convenient but better than all around the shower.
