Inbound or outbound military personnel and their accompanying family members are entitled to make use of the family services loan locker facility at Beale AFB, California. This is a provision for families as they wait for the delivery of their household goods to arrive or once their household items have been packed and shipped to the next military installation. Families in either of these situations will have very little in the way of crockery, cutlery, pots and pans and other essential items while they are transitioning.

When military personnel and their families arrive at Beale AFB, they should stop by the Family Services Loan Locker, which is located at 5114B Tern Court. Opening hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11:00-2:00pm and Tuesday and Thursday from 2:00-5:00pm. For further information, call (530) 634-5626. The loan locker is conveniently located within the housing area, just doors away from some of the TLF's (Temporary Lodging Facility). In order to check out any items from the Loan Locker, a copy of the military orders will need to be presented to staff, who can then authorise the loan.

The Family Services Loan Locker provides a lot of useful items such as sleeping mats, alarm clocks, cutlery, crockery, children's toys, blankets, tables and chairs and much more. These items will be especially useful to families who have already moved into a new home, but have not yet received the shipment of their household goods.

Inbound or outbound military personnel and their family members can check out household items free of charge. When checking out items from the loan locker, staff will hand you a detailed itinerary sheet and you will be expected to check that all of the items that you were lent by the loan locker are returned in the same condition that they were in before you checked them out. This can help to ensure that items do not get lost or mixed in with your own personal items. Any breakages must be replaced when the items are returned to the Family Services Loan Locker.

Takeaways
  • The Family Services Loan Locker Facility can be found at 5114B Tern Court, by housing
  • Household goods are available to check out free of charge for inbound and outbound families
  • Make sure that broken items are replaced and all items are accounted for when you return the items

That a very useful service. And Linda Corby has a great idea- they could give your book out to families using the base.
