Are you trying to become more technologically savvy? Or perhaps looking for good technology product reviews? Maybe you've wondered about subscribing to a technology magazine but were concerned that it would be too technical or not worth the cost? Read on to see what I thought of the latest issue of PC Magazine, and for a review of all its features.

I received a free subscription to PC Magazine through an Internet offer, but it turns out that I would have been willing to pay for it. The magazine is excellent. Even better, like many magazines, they have additional articles and the latest tech information available on-line at www.PCMag.com . I now use this on line feature quite often, to read about breaking news in the world of technology, for product reviews, industry analysis, and pod casts.

Each issue features a main article on a topic of mass interest. The February 2008 issue focuses on security tips, including the latest security threats, blocking spy ware, foiling phishing schemes, protecting your network, and reviews and tests of 14 different security suites. This is particularly valuable as the beginning of the year is the time that companies release new security program updates, and stores such as Staples and Office Depot have the software on sale, and sometimes practically free after rebate. There is also an article on Wikipedia, and why it just keeps getting better.

There are also regular features that will interest the somewhat casual reader. The current issue discusses industry and legal trends, new websites to visit, such as marvel comics, and free Wi-Fi locations across the country. The new $200 computer project called One Laptop per Child (OLPC) is reviewed, where computers are being sold to third world countries. If you're in the market for a new computer, printer, software package, or peripheral, the newest models are reviewed. Sources of refurbished PCs that are a good as new are reviewed, compared and contrasted.
