Every once in awhile I get this overwhelming desire to get out and 'just help someone, anyone'. I believe it is our human nature to want to help others in need. There are several ways to give. Whether it be sending money to a needy third world country or actually helping the local community. You can always donate to the Good Will. Okay here is a little confession of mine, I not only donate to them, I buy from them. They truly do have some nice clothes. I love shopping there. Not to mention, the money goes to helping disabled people, so it is well worth it. While looking for places to donate your time, in the Shreveport area, I have come across a few that I would love to share.
You may chose to help homeless families with children at The Shreveport Providence House on Cotton Street. Volunteers can read to the children, clean, tutor, answer phones, cleaning and painting. Time is valuable and there is nothing that is more wonderful then spending that with the less fortunate. These families are almost always without any other family other then who they have there in the home. If you chose to volunteer, you may want to visit their website The Providence House, Shreveport, La.
There is a place for everyone in this world and that even includes the mentally challenged, or retarded. The Arc of Caddo-Bossier is here to help the retarded realize and reach for their goals. They are there to educate and support the families of the mentally retarded. They ask that you contact them by phone for more information (318) 221-8392.

They are here to build strong families to better the community and are extended throughout the United States. The state their mission "to reach and uplift all people."
