1. Why You Should Print Digital Pictures: Electronics Malfunction
Has your computer ever given you an error message? What if the next error message reads, "FILE ERROR: file cannot be opened" and that file just happens to be the photo you needed to use for work, print for a friend's birthday or mail to your aunt?
Computers will malfunction, and it always seems to be at the worst possible time. Be sure you make printed copies of all your photos that are important. You can always make a duplicate from a printed photograph if your electronic back-up fails. But, if your electronic back-up fails, then what? Your cherished memories will only exist as memories.
2. Why You Should Print Digital Pictures: Everyone Doesn't Have a Computer with Email
Most, but not all people, have a home computer now. Have you ever had someone complement one of your pictures to which you cheerfully reply, "Let me email that to you!" and they mention they don't have email access at home? My sister uses a computer for 8 to 9 hours a day at her job, but when it comes to using a computer after work hours, it's a rare occurrence, since she has to go to a friend's house for personal internet access.
If you print out the best, cutest and most shared images, you can easily hand a copy to the admirers. Who knows, it may even end up as "refrigerator art" or become frame worthy.
3. Why You Should Print Digital Pictures: Prints will Survive Technology Advancements
Do you remember when you last watched a movie on a VHS cassette tape, or rocked out to some tunes on an 8 track? We can't assume that our CD's and DVD's full of photographs will be able to be viewed by our great, great, great grandchildren. By then, the technology will be vastly different, and who knows if they will be able to read our ancient methods of photo storage.
