She wore a smile
like a mannequins face

A rose in her hair
and a stlyle, full of grace

Secrets she hid
disguised with her words

But her eyes....
Spoke such excruciating hurt

No one could see

until now

That she is gone....

The Secret

There's amazing people hidden behind the faces they put to the world. Absolutely touching poem. You are a tribute to the poetry world.

The picture amazingly goes with your sweet poetry here That only after it was the saddness through her eyes a story would be after it was too late so sad this be for me

Cathie, this is a very poignant piece. Every voice given to girls like the one in your poem, adds to the strength of those *still here* to stand up for themselves as the special and completely original and valid and valuable people they are, and gives solidarity to those of us who are bonded by similar strife, and yet tend to stand alone in our micro-environments. You'll have done some good for somebody with these words.

Yes, it's the eyes that reveal the most about a person - you are so right! If only people would take the time to truely look into the eyes of someone they would see beyond the surface and understatnd their hurt. It's sad that we often recognize this too late. This is a very heart-wrenching poem and makes you think! Great job!
