The Giants and Eli Manning were on fire Sunday night at Lambeau Field. Even the wily, veteran, Brett Favre, 72,000 screaming Packer fans and an actual thermometer reading of -3 degrees Fahrenheit could not cool off the gang from New York and prevent the Giants from posting a 23-20 overtime victory over the heavily favored Green Bay Packers. On the morning after scorch marks could be seen all across the "frozen tundra", a gentle reminder of the "Battle of Titans" that occurred less than 24 hours ago.

Today, the players are soaking their wounds, some are emptying their lockers and heading for their off-season homes, while others will be preparing for the trip to the warmth of Glendale, Arizona, where they can bask in the sunlight and glory of being a Super Bowl participant. After days of mindless, pre-game trivia, the final showdown will eventually arrive on Sunday February 3 with a sports spectacular that will be watched the world over. Over the past three weeks the Giants have proven that they are not a team to be taken lightly.

The Patriots had a warmer day, and a much less exciting battle on their way to sunny, Phoenix suburb, where they will attempt to bring home their fourth Lombardi in seven years. Their victory over the hurting San Diego Chargers was not nearly as impressive as the game in Green Bay, but the Patriots based on a perfect 18-0 record, will be favored to bring home the bacon on "Super Sunday". With the way the Giants have been playing lately, being the favorite may not be such a good thing. (If the Giants do win the big one, they may have to change their name to Giant-killers, for that is a far better verbal explanation of their task at hand.)
