Oscar nominees announced: The 2008 Oscar nominees were announced on Tuesday morning and "No Country for Old Men" and "There Will Be Blood" were the winners with eight nominations each, including best picture and best director.

"No Country for Old Men," a tale about a drug deal gone bad and "There Will Be Blood," a historical epic set during California's oil boom will go up against pregnancy comedy "Juno," the romance "Atonement," and George Clooney's legal drama "Michael Clayton" in the much heralded Best Picture category.

As far as individual nominations went Cate Blanchett stole the show. She was nominated for both a supporting actress and a best actress Oscar. Blanchett was nominated for best actress in a supporting role for her portrayal of Bob Dylan in "I'm Not There. She was also nominated in the best actress category for "Elizabeth: The Golden Age" in which she played the famous Queen Elizabeth.

Other actors and actresses that did well for themselves are Tommy Lee Jones and George Clooney, who received best acotr nominations and Laura Linney, who received a best actress nomination.

Surprisingly, the stars of "Atonement," Keira Knightley and James McAoy did not receive any nominations for their performance in what many thought would be the movie to garner the most nominations.
