What is a Chemical Peel?
There are a whole bunch of new procedures available for people who want to look young and feel better about themselves whatever age they are. While much of this therapy came about as restorative therapies for people who were in accidents or had other reasons to need it, the fact is that
much of the chemical treatments have now become the clinical standard, particularly in Hollywood.
So many people may ask, what is a chemical peel? Chemical peels are passages which are applied topically to aid in the restoration and rejuvenation of his skin is damaged surface. Chemical peels work by creating a controlled shedding of top layers of skin which helps people get back to normal.
Dr. Raffi Dishakjian is the medical director for Nu Vela Esthetica (11200 Corbin Ave Suite 104; Porter Ranch CA) and in recent conversations with the doctor we talked about a great deal of chemical treatments including chemical peels.
"Chemical peels," says the doctor, "are for people of a certain skin type who are looking to achieve a certain type of result."
When pressed further to elaborate on some of those results the doctor went on to describe "reduced blotchy skin, uneven pigmentation," and said that even people who have things like "fine lines and wrinkles, freckling, age spots, sun damage, and acne scars" would greatly benefit from the chemical peel technology.
There are three different types of chemical peels which are generally classified as superficial, medium, and deep peels. A superficial appeal is designed for surface damage and is designed to help dry skin and improve texture of any sun damaged skin or even out your skin tone. The medium peel contains a stronger potency of acids and targets the epidermis. Deep peels are for the most dramatic results and are typically used when treating a wrinkles, scars, blemishes and in some cases skin lesions. Though you should always be careful before you do anything and you should always consult with your doctor before they apply any kind of acid to you.
