Heath Ledger: Why?
Is it Really Greener on the Other Side?

It is so often the case that we look at the small screen in out sitting rooms and view the person entertaining us as just that: an entertainer. It is with a knot in my depths of my gut that i read the indescribable news that Heath Ledger had died. According to reports, he committed suicide. Just another human being in a world of struggling people. It hit me hard that I had seen my hero as some sort of untouchable, invincible creature who appeared to be so together and balanced. it makes no difference how much money you have, how much fame...he was just flesh and blood. perhaps this makes him even more lovable, even if from his cold hard place in the morgue. what is was I had loved about him was an inherent sensitivity with which he played his roles. I often felt that he knew what he was feeling...perhaps more than the average actor. I write this with no intent to be intellectual or even literary genius, I write this with the honesty of someone who has been to edge and knows exactly how desperate a person has to feel to take their own lives. We just forget that even though he is famous, untouchable and seemingly bewitched by luck, that he was and always will be - just human. It took as much pain and anguish (for whatever reason) to open his mouth, fill it with pills, sip some water and swallow, as it does for you or I. being so famous was his curse in the sense that with evryone around you appearing to care, he probably never knew who wanted to really help, and who wanted to get a piece of juicy media. Well, Heath Ledger, I am sorry I am writing about you now even in your death, but I would have wanted you to know that there are genuine people in the world who care more about YOU than they do about money or acclaim. You gave us so much and we thank you...I thank you. Maybe, in the end you too, changed your stars. I just wish you'd chosen different ones.
