Olafur Eliasson Seeks to Do the Brooklyn Bridge and Three Other Waterfalls
Hunh? Waterfalls in New York city-and from the Brooklyn Bridge, too? If the hotly rising Danish artist Olafur Eliasson has his way-yeah, four waterfalls in NYC, including one waterfall cascading from the Brooklyn Bridge. Only artists, eh?Olafur Eliasson's green-lighted artistic vision of four waterfalls in NYC, including one, dare I say, spectacular waterfall cascading from the Brooklyn Bridge currently is in the end planning/funding stages. It is expected, however, that the Public Art Project will flow right along. The
Olafur Eliasson Does the Brooklyn Bridge - Four Giant Waterfalls in New York City?
As stated earlier, the project has been green-lighted, by New York city officials, and the plan is for it to be accomplished for this summer of '08. Four waterfalls throughout New York city, I have to repeat that idea again, if only for my own need to grasp the image, is pretty venturesome stuff. Erecting a waterfall from the Brooklyn Bridge, let alone, three other waterfalls throughout the boroughs, or NYC itself, compared to sculpting something on a pedestal, or watercolors on easeled paper, is a whole 'nuther matter altogether.
Nevertheless, the audacious artist Eliasson braves on in his artistic quest to confound the rest of us with his venturous idea of waterfalls in NYC. I can't stop saying waterfalls in NYC-it's so out there! Anyway, the city expects, or hopes, to generate an extra 55 million of tourism revenue for the Big Apple from the project.
Will people come to NYC to see waterfalls, especially, a waterfall cascading from the Brooklyn Bridge? Yes. In and of itself, where in the world can anything as outlandish, unconventional, or unusual as this happen but in NYC? This has to be right up there with the indoor snow park in some desert of the Mideast, or Dubai, or wherever that snow park is-where it seemingly shouldn't.
