Zyprexa Use by Children WARNING

The Use of Atypical Antipsychotics for Children Should Be Banned

Zyprexa Use by Children

Zyprexa, as well as the other atypical antipsychotics, is being prescribed for children, even though this is an unapproved, off-label use. Eli Lilly has been charged in allegedly pushing the drug for children in more than one state.

Recently a parent wrote to us about her two sons. She received pressure to place them on ADHD drugs as early as Head Start. Over the years, they were on a cocktail of various psychotropic drugs. At one time, they were place on Zyprexa and according to the mother more than doubled their
 body weight.

A report by Dr. Cooper at Vanderbilt University states that 2.5 million children are now taking atypical antipsychotics. Over half are being given them for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Perhaps it is statistics like these that caused the FDA to finally require warnings on the labels of the ADHD drugs.

The use of atypical antipsychotics for children should be banned.

My grandson never ever in his entire life had seizures until they put him on all of these phycho-meds. When you confront the doctors they get an attitude as if you are not supposed to ask questions, just do as they say. Just allow them to pull that prescription pad out and start writing scripts. If you ask toooooo many questions they look at you as if to say "what do you know" Every family had better start doing research and not allow these doctors and pharmaceuticals to continue destroying our children. God gave us these children and we are responsible for them not these doctors. A lot of them are alcoholics and drug addicts themselves. How can they help our children? Tell me, how?

These doctors and pharmaceutical , all of them should be sued for killing and messing these children's minds up this way. All both the phycians and pharmaceuticals are thinking about is money. They don't care who they harm in the process as long as it is not them or their family members. We should stand together and fight, get the media involved, do what we have to do to save our love ones .

Children have been know to go crazy and kill after taking meds. This is why school shootings occur. The medication industry is part of the new world order. Flush your drugs and buy guns.

( Partial excerpt: ) "A business has only one responsibility and that is to make profit," Sherman said, quoting Milton Friedman, 1976 Nobel Memorial Prize winner. He said in the pursuit of profit, companies like cigarette and car manufacturers use cost-benefit analyses. This means if it is more cost-efficient to let a defect slide than to spend money fixing the problem, companies will take that risk. Sherman used the Eli Lilly Corp. and its 1930's production of thimerosal as an example. The compound was used in children's vaccinations until some began to believe it caused autism. He said thimerosal was removed from most injections in 2001 and autism rates dropped to an all-time low.

Eli Lilly is in trouble for using their drug reps to 'encourage' doctors to write zyprexa for non-FDA approved 'off label' uses. The drug causes increased diabetes risk, and medicare picks up all the expensive fallout. There are now 8 states going after Lilly for fraud and restitution. - Daniel Haszard

I took zyprexa which was ineffective for my condition and gave me diabetes. Zyprexa, which is used for the treatment of psychiatric disorders, such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, accounted for 32% of Eli Lilly's $14.6 billion revenue last year. Zyprexa is the product name for Olanzapine,it is Lilly's top selling drug.It was approved by the FDA in 1996 ,an 'atypical' antipsychotic a newer class of drugs without the motor side effects of the older Thorazine.Zyprexa has been linked to causing diabetes and pancreatitis. Did you know that Lilly made nearly $3 billion last year on diabetic meds, Actos,Humulin and Byetta? Yes! They sell a drug that can cause diabetes and then turn a profit on the drugs that treat the condition that they may have caused in the first place! I was prescribed Zyprexa from 1996 until 2000. In early 2000 i was shocked to have an A1C test result of 13.9 (normal is 4-6) I have no history of diabetes in my family. ---- Daniel Has

Zyprexa and the other, less dangerous atypical antipsychotics are being used more frequently for lots of reasons. One reason is that SSRI antidepressants now carry a warning against use for children under the age of eighteen due to suicide/homicide risk. But the atypicals already carry a heavy risk for adults. The drugs are now being tested on children: One problem with the tests is that problems such as diabetes often don't show up immediately but rather after the drug trial is finished. There is no question but that these drugs should be banned for use by children. They are too dangerous. Children deserve protection from dangerous drugs: It says so in the U.N. Rights of the Child. It is the responsibility of a country to protect children in this way.
