Woman Crawls Out from Under Rock to Drive a Bus

The town of Coushatta, LA became the first place in history to offer proof people really do crawl out from under rocks. According to the Shreveport Times, nine black children were ordered by the white school bus driver
to sit in two seats in the back of the bus. This meant that the older children had to have younger ones sitting on their laps, while the white children were spread out throughout the rest of the bus.

A Fox News Channel report repeated the driver's statement that she had never heard of the Montgomery Bus Boycott or the Civil Rights Movement. As a guest of the show put it, she either has an IQ of 50 or there's something more to this story.

Now, I was born and raised in the south. Even if this woman has an IQ of 50, the only way she could not have heard of the Civil Rights movement was if she is the first case in documented history of rocks spontaneously generating living matter. No doubt she has at least heard relatives or neighbors talking about how "they" should have all been sent back to Africa, and insisting on celebrating General Robert E. Lee's birthday rather than Martin Luther King, Jr's birthday. It is an ugly, inescapable fact of Southern living that bigotry, racism and downright stupidity still exist, and most proponents of perpetuating the evil are not shy about voicing their opinions. Perhaps she crawled out from under the rock after falling off the turnip truck and being in a coma for the last fifty years.

An Associated Press release stated that a mother of two of the children, Iva Richmond, made the first complaint to the school principal when her children told her the black kids had assigned seats. The driver was not on her route Wednesday or Thursday, but Superintendent Kay Easley would not say if the woman would drive again at all. Meanwhile, a black bus driver was assigned to pick up the children and take them to and from school.

I am from Coushatta, Louisiana and I remember this story when it happened. This article needs to obtain the accurate story because this is not what really happened. In the beginning of the school year, the kids choose seats and they have to sit there for the entire year. The black kids wanted to sit in the front and they could not because they have assigned seats. Since they did not get their way, they said it was racism and made a big deal over nothing.
Excellent article
As a Black American male, no not African American, I have never stepped foot on African soil, though I would love to visit it someday to view my heritage, I find this bus driver totally mind blowing. As a black man my first reaction is anger. How dare she try and turn back time for the worse. Then my blood boils....then it hit me. Isn't it as this article implies, as predijuced for Black Americans to automatically assume that only racism only exists in the South. We freely call them rednecks, crackers, inbred, etc. But the first time a white person even has the slightest hint of showing racism we are ready to rally on the street where he lives. Racial profiling still exists by some police agencies and is wrong and makes my blood pressure shoot way up. On the other hand how many times do we as Black Americans automatically assume when we get pulled over for it is because we are black. Aren't we stereotyping the police officer by presuming that he is racist without even knowing him or be
In-freakin-credible! I saw this news story when it came out, but just happened up this article on AC. Nice job on uncovering a new scientific discovery. It amazes me how far we've come as a nation and still have folks like this! I live in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.-- a growing city, but was once a depressed, old coalmining town-- we have A LOT of backwards people here holding on to that old mentality. It makes me sick.
Wow, April. I'm so glad you wrote this article, because otherwise this story would've passed me by. Terrible news, but great job bringing it to light.
perhaps a product of the famed southern inbreeding? LOL
It is an ugly and inescapeable fact that of Northern living that bigotry, racism, and down right stupidity still exist, and most proponents of perpetuating the evil are not shy about voicing their oponions. Terrible situation. I gave your article a 5, well written, points well made. I would like to add though that I grew up in the South and have spent the last 4 years living in the North. I see the same attitudes here. In the North whites and blacks just seem to stay away from each other. Equally terrible no matter the location of the racism.
GREAT article darlin. *5*
I love your take on this awful bit news
How many of you think brain washed and rock crawling writer are the same person? I guess this person realized his/her opinions weren't popular so he/she had to fabricate an additional identity. Great article, by the way!
