Have You Ever Really Thought About It?

Is Our Society Really as Vanilla as We Think?

This is something that I have been thinking about for a while now.

Many people in our society claim to be 'straight', 'vanilla', and repulsed by anyone who may have an interest in the B.D.S.M. lifestyle. But when you start to look into the lives of the so called straight world, you may be surprised at what you find. Family and Friends who would rather
find a way to inflict emotional pain on one another than to find a kind word to say. It almost seems easier to find the one issue that can tear at someones heart and use it as a constant way of controlling them, than to try and find something positive to say to them that will lift them up and make them feel better about themselves and the lives they live.

I have seen this happen over and over again, to a point that it is beginning to make me sick. I have watched as people have said things to one another only to see the recipient cry or lash out verbally at their attacker. It is almost as if the person throwing the verbal jabs, in some strange way 'gets off' on seeing how much they are able to hurt someone else. Watching this happen you almost want to say that these peoples 'fetish' is other peoples emotional pain.

With that in mind, why is it that society tends to look down on people who choose to live an alternative lifestyle?

Maybe we all need to take a step back and look at the things we say and do to each other on a daily basis, before we judge those who choose lifestyles that may not conform to what we consider 'normal'.

We are not all that different, some of us choose words as our weapon of choice, while others may choose whips, chains, handcuffs, or any number of other implements to inflict damage on one another.
