The History of Ridicule Over Small Towns Seeing UFO's

It seems UFO's are starting to be seen a little more often again lately after a lull for several years. Many of them are starting to appear directly over highly-populated cities both big and small, too, which some UFO researchers equate with perhaps something happening there that attracts them (as in future natural disasters...or maybe something more subtle). Whatever the reasons--or even if they're just experimental military aircraft--people are definitely seeing unusual airborne objects when you get reams of video footage showing plainly visible disc or oddball-shaped objects and people who don't even know one another describing seeing the very same thing.

The people in Stephenville, Texas definitely all saw something in January of this year when you see available video footage evidence in the media of a disc-shaped craft hovering over highly-populated areas of the town and all the citizens describing the same object. But because it's a small town--the stigma has already been set to automatically equate them with people having overactive imaginations. Just what is it about people in tight-knit communities coming out and making public statements about seeing a UFO so prone to outside observers being so skeptical? Surely the word of dozens of people who don't even know one another accurately describing an object plainly visible on digital video shouldn't increase skepticism, right?

Well, let's look back at how that stigma probably all started.

People who live in the backwoods have unfortunately been placed into some kind of bracket of naivete since the days when things outside the norm suddenly started showing up at their back door. Maybe that sounds like I'm ribbing them myself with that last half of the last sentence--but you can only imagine the frustration if you're one who isn't used to being overly big-city articulate when having to describe a profound event of a giant and ominous-looking craft hovering over your farmhouse...
