Why Did Sharona (Bitty Schram) Leave Monk the U.S.A Network TV Series?

Sharona (Bitty Schram) started this Hit TV series with Monk (Tony Shalhaub) and will always be loved by it's viewers. Simply because she helped Monk years after his wife died in a car garage bombing which was supposed to be him during this" fouled up"
and mysterious explosion, which Monk is still trying to figure out, because she needed the money for Monk's job's to pay her bill's because Monk was her employer.

Internet rumors stated that the producers of this hit TV series decided to take her character in a different direction and Bitty disliked the new character role and so she left without any incident. Monk's new partner and at times "Tries to be his nurse" Natalie (Traylor Howard), just does not fit the role because she is more selfish regarding Monk's needs. Sharona, on the other hand, would always give up to Monk's demands.

Sharona always played the part of this beautiful, sexy and lovable character, which Randy would sometimes try to "Hit On" as Sharona described, even after Randy took out a newspaper ad describing her in detail which he was looking for, which she discovered in one episode. However, after the episode of the "gumball machine" she realized that Randy was her "Friend". This is one of the things that made Sharona's character so heartwarming and so lovable. The producers of this show should think about this moment?

The episode where Sharona had got drunk in this Mexican town and collected all these beads was great and comedic from a male's point of view! Monk finally tells her what the beads were for, and she was so embarrassed. And as usual, Monk solves the crime through his mastermind and unusual "weird" detective works.

And also, the episode where "Dale the Whale" gives Monk the clues about how his wife died in this car bombing. Sharona, showed her pain, love and concern with so much emotion as shown on TV, which most likely showed her love for this TV role.

You writers are smart. Why don't you have Monk figure out that he really needs and wants Sharona, go looking for her, find her, rescue her from her looser husband and solve a crime in the process? That would be what the audience really wants. Bitty, back by popular demand...

I love this show! however, it annoys me no end that Natalie refers to Monk as "Mr. Monk". It borders on the ridiculous. What is this ' The Mary Tyler Moore Show'! "Oh, Mr. Grant"! Natalie is one handy-wipe away from holding Monk's hand while he pees! Having her character refer to him as 'Mr. Monk' infantilizes her and is just plain stupid. Drop it! It's 2009 fools! Either have everyone call him 'Mister', or no one. Sharona called him 'Adrian' and it was a natural and normal form of address.

Please, Please, Please return Sharona to the Monk episodes. I don't have anything against Natalie, but Sharona's characteris perfect for someone like Adrian.

I strongly believe that Sharona was a better partner for Adrian Monk than Natalie has ever been. Not that Traylor Howard hasn't tried, but she doesn't have the sassy personality of Bitty Schram.

Thanks for the information, I miss the Sharona character. The episode you mentioned about Sharona getting drunk in that Mexican town was one of the best. But it wasn't Monk who told her about the beads it was the younger Mexican detective. You know Monk wouldn't know, she has to explain everything to him.

You could extrapolate the trend for not obtaining the years 4-7 videodiscs across the majority of viewers discontented with Howard/Natalie. To maximise the profit for the sales returns of the Year 8 videodiscs, the studio/network could get rid of Howard/Natalie before the filming of Year 8 is to commence and re-hire Bitty Schram for the ENTIRE final year.
