Our local Bealls outlet store is a great place to find discounted makeup. I purchased the Almay one-coat thickening mascara for $1.99 instead of the $5.99 sticker price. It was totally sealed in the packaging, so I knew that this was a great buy.

Almay products are hypoallergenic and fragrance free which I love.

With my brown eyes I always use beige/brown eye shadow and black mascara. I picked up the mascara obviously for price, but also because it stated that you only needed one coat to double the size of your lashes, with no clumping, smudging, or flaking.

So I put the mascara to the test. I was heading out to a Big Band dinner dance last night for between 300 and 350 people. Unfortunately this is a private club so the Florida non-smoking does not apply. With so many of my mascaras I find that the smoke makes my eyes run and then I get 'panda' eyes from dabbing them.

I used the mascara around 3.00 p.m. and got to the function at 3.45 p.m. To my dismay there were 3 smokers on our table and several on the table next to us. Throughout the evening my eyes watered but my mascara stayed perfect. We got home around 9.30 p.m. and I didn't have to touch up my eye make up during that time.

When it was time for bed I used my usual make up remover and it took the mascara off with ease. Today I wore my Almay mascara to work and it was a damp, rainy day, and again it stayed perfect.

With so many of my other brands of mascara I have to either add to my lashes during the day or the cheaper ones with clump or smudge.

On the back of the Almay packaging it states:

"Volumizing formula builds lashes double thick in one quick, smooth, clump-free application.

Specially designed quick coat brush wraps mascara evenly around every lash as it separates for a full, lush, high-volume look.

Lashes feel conditioned and cared for.

To use: Brush mascara on lashes from base to ends."

The mascara can be removed with just soap and water or any cleanser.

Almay products are also non-irritation, Ophthalmologist, clinically, dermatologist and allergy tested. They are also suitable for people wearing contact lens.

This is a great bargain! I know what you mean about regretting not buying more of bargains when you first spot them. I usually find they are gone when I go back too. Sophie
