My Tested Love
War in Iraq
It will be tested to the end
My love is strong
It will never bend.
He is in Iraq
Fighting for his life
My love is tested
I am an Army Wife.
I cry every night
Hoping for him to come home safe
Night after night
It tests my faith
As hope grows thin
My patience is low
I hear the phone ring
A desolate tone.
I hear a voice
That is not my husband's
He tells me something
Injured, is my husband.
My heart races
As he gives me the number
I frantically write
Before my worrisome slumber.
The next day comes
I call him at the base
I tell him one thing
I can not wait to see his face.
In one month
He came home
He stayed in bed
Not allowed to roam.
He is all better now
Fine as can be
Wearing a prosthetic leg
And loving me.
My love was tested
Tested to the end
My love is strong
It never bends.
