On a whole, the prices for Rio Grande Cafe are a little higher than what you might expect from a mexican restaurant. This is especially true on their lunch menu. In general their lunch entrees will run anywhere from just over $10 to very close to $20, which daily specials sometimes going over that price even at lunch. The best selection is probably their fajitas, as the lunch portions run just under $15. These come with either beef or chicken that are well seasoned, rice, pico de gallo, and their frijoles a la charra. For a couple dollars extra you can add on cheese and sour cream.
The chicken tends to be a little drier and chewier than the beef selection for the fajitas. This can largely be attributed to the extra fat that is included on the pieces of beef. They might not be the healthiest, but the extra fat on the meat does help pick up the seasoning used on the fajitas. Before your meal arrives you do get nice warm tortilla chips with a salsa that isn't too spicy but is flavorful. What stands out at Rio Grande Cafe though is their tortillas for the fajitas. These are freshly made and are not your typical flat and thin tortillas. These are nice and fluffy, with body to them. My only complaint is quite often they give you very few to start with. You can ask for more though at no additional cost.
