High above the Tauber River sits Rothenburg, Germany which is one of the most charming and enchanting cities to visit when you go travel to Germany. Rothenburg is a city that dates back to the middle Ages. It is surrounded by a fortress of a brick wall. If you are visiting Frankfurt it is only a two hour drive south from there. The Hotel we stayed at was called Gasthof Kloster Stuble . Hotel Kloster Stuble is a one of a few hotels that was recommended by world known traveler, Rick Steves. Hotel Kloster Stuble or Gasthof Kloster Stuble as it is commonly named is an absolutely charming hotel located in a quiet street off the beaten path of tourists, yet walking distance to the central square.

The hotel also has a restaurant offering you traditional and outstanding German cooking. Along with an exquisite meal, you have excellent wines for the connoisseurs in the family. It is located at Heringsbronnengasse 5. The name of the street is derived from the medieval fountains in which the pickled herrings were brought from the sea and stored in barrels. Behind the hotel is the Burggarten, translated "Castle Garden" which is a quiet garden overlooking the panoramic view of the city.

The rooms as you can see in my pictures attached to the article were decorated in an authentically décor with pine wood. Prices start at fifty four Euros and go to around one hundred and ninety Euros. That's equivalent to about eighty one dollars to two hundred and eighty five dollars.

I was stationed in Ansbach, and Rothenberg was only a very short train ride (or car drive) from my military barracks. Anytime I had a day off and nothing to do, I could zip over there & enjoy the walking around and interesting buildings and walls. It was just about my favorite place, and I never EVER got tired of it. I took my sister there, back when she & her husband enjoyed a tour in Germany later on. Your article was terrific & I really enjoyed your pictures very much! We're hoping to get back over there within the next few years and tops on my list of places to revisit is Rothenberg. PLUS, I'll keep that particular gasthaus in mind. Sounds wonderful!
