In my opinion There Will Be Blood should sweep the Oscars, including the categories it is not even nominated in. The following review will do nothing, but add praise to this statement.

There Will Be Blood was directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, also known as PT Anderson; or as the guy who also directed Hard Eight, Boogie Nights, Magnolia, and Punch Drunk Love. The screenplay was also written by PT Anderson, adapted somewhat from the book entitled "Oil!" by Upton Sinclair. The movie stars Daniel-Day Lewis, Paul Dano, Dillon Freasier, and Kevin J. O'Conner joins in to add a twist.

The story of There Will Be Blood is mainly a character piece following the character Daniel Plainview as he embarks on a life journey as an oil man, starting in 1898, and descends into an existence of hatred, paranoia, and success; amongst other things. The drama is escalated by Plainview's acquisition of a son, a possible long lost brother showing up in time for the riches, competition companies, and a young man who controls the religious as a prophet in the region Plainview is drilling for oil in.

The first good word people will generally hear about this movie is the performance by Daniel-Day Lewis. The man is jaw dropping amazing. It doesn't matter that the film is around 2 hrs and 38 min long, Lewis is captivating. However, Paul Dano as the evangelical preacher is right on par with Lewis. It is a travesty that he is not getting more recognition. Lewis and Dano facing off is powerful stuff. Dillon Freasier playing the role of Plainview's son is perfectly cast as well. There is a scene in which father and son are side by side, working the scheme of talking someone out of their land, and I swear their gestures right down to the eye movements were perfectly in sync. All of the supporting cast is strong as well; though Dano and Lewis own this show.

PT Anderson is one of, if not, my favorite directors. He does not disappoint with There Will Be Blood. The scenery captured is gorgeous and each scene of acting is like detailed art. This is a movie that will be stuck in your mind long after you leave the theater. The ending is nothing short of awesome, dark, and quirky.
