Rumors have been circulating about the impending reunion of the New Kids on the Block, although the powers that be at Associated Content believe that a NKOTB reunion is unlikely. This inspired them to ask us which three bands we would like to see reunited, and my wife and I rose to the challenge. These are the three bands she and I both thought of:

1. Spandau Ballet - This group is arguably most famous in America for the lush, romantic song True. (Never mind that the lyrics don't make any sense whatever !) They are also thought to have virtually invented the New Romantic genre so popular in the early 1980s. Guitarist Gary Kemp became estranged from the rest of the band in the late 1980s, at about the time they released their last album (which tanked at the cash register), and three other band members sued him unsuccessfully for song royalties. (I have to admit that my wife had something of a crush on lead singer Tony Hadley, who was one of the band members who filed the unsuccessful suit against Kemp.)

2. Culture Club. Led by androgynous singer Boy George (alias George O'Dowd), virtually all their major hits were inspired by his affair with fellow band member Jon Moss. The group released three albums, two of which spawned most of the group's big hits. By the time the group broke up in 1986, Boy George was addicted to both heroin and cocaine. They already have had two reunions, but seem to be unlikely to reunite at any point in the near future, despite rumors to the contrary. It's a shame, too - Boy George is one of the most talented singers I've ever heard. After the group basically broke up, Boy George's addictions grew worse, causing him to get into legal trouble here in the United States.

Culture Club ad four albums, Kissing To Be Clever, Colour By Numbers, Waking Up With The House On Fire and From Luxury To Heartache. Each album had a top 20 hit, though most were on the first two, as you say. When they reormed in the late 90's they also put out another album, Don't Mind If I Do. Wouldn't hold my breath waiting on them to reunite for another, though.

You're wife has impeccible taste...Tony Hadley is not only lush, he can sing better than most of them out there! Us Spandie's continue to pray for a reunion, but I'm afraid that's up to Tony now... I'd love to see Boy George with CC too!
