I read a lot of blogs. I have a list of roughly 30 that I keep track of each day. I realize that's not a lot by some standards, but if I had to actually visit each website just to see if new posts had been made, I'm not sure I would be as religious about checking them as I am now.

What do I do that makes it easier? I use a feed aggregator. There a lot of different ones out there, and they all do generally the same thing, which is to check each website and present the new posts to me in a convenient, easy-to-use interface.

In addition to my articles here on Associated Content, I have a weblog, hosted on Blogger. I'd tell you to check it out, but it's very similar to what I have here (and it's brand new, so at the moment there's very little to read), but if you want to take a peek, you can find it over here.

How I feel about posting to my blog is similar to how I feel about reading blogs. Sure, I could use the standard Blogger interface, which really does give me a lot of options. Again, however, this is something I don't really like doing. And again, I'm not sure why, but does probably relate to my not liking to read/write email in my browser. And that's why I usually look for good desktop clients, for email as well as reading and writing blogs. Sometimes, because I move back and forth between a couple different computers, not to mention Mac OS X and Linux, I'm forced to use a web-based solution, because it makes keeping things synchronized quite simple.

On the Mac, my favorite client for posting to blogs is one called MarsEdit. It happens to have been written by the same guy who wrote NetNewsWire (my favorite blog reading client), so I suppose it makes a lot of sense that I like both.

Using MarsEdit couldn't be simpler. If you know how to send an email, you know how to use MarsEdit. In fact, if it wasn't for the fact the two programs don't have identical icons, telling MarsEdit apart from Apple's email program would be a bit difficult. Like Apple's Mail.app, MarsEdit has a three pain interface. On the left is a list of all the blogs you have, on top is a list of all the posts from each blog, and on the bottom is where you can review each post. Very simple and very understandable.

The main posting interface to MarsEdit... feels and looks a lot like emailing, which I like.
