Mission accomplished: Davanza's Old Town located at 690 Park Avenue, a block from "the lift", is the place to go for authentic southwest tacos. This rustic brew pub rates a 4 out of 5 snowflakes for having great food, microbrew on tap, metal Corona tables, walls lined with hundreds of beer cans, and a Texas Longhorn banner on the ceiling. You can also sit on the tall wooden bar stools, chat with the friendly local bartenders and patrons, and watch sports on the television mounted high above.
If you are looking for tacos, the hanging Davanza's porch sign may fool you since it reads Pizza and more, but the lighted red neon Taco sign in the window will draw your attention. Another sure fire sign of good food and brew are the dozens of snowboards and skis lined up along the wooden deck. Davanza's is a favorite among the winter sports enthusiasts of Park City as they exit the slope on Park Avenue. The pizza, burgers, sandwiches, subs, tacos and salads at $4.95 to $5.95, reenergize the determined ski crowd before returning to the mountain of snow. You can also order hot or BBQ wings, chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, onion rings, and cheese fries.
The handmade tacos come with your choice of Asada, Grilled Chicken, Carnitas, Bean & Cheese, or Fish (Cod) fillings. Each taco is served on a homemade soft flour tortilla and includes fresh lime, cilantro, onion, salsa, and guacamole. You can also add melted white cheese, a definite must for any authentic taco. If you really want to spice it up, each table includes a bottle of Valentina Salsa Picante Mexican Hot Sauce made by Salsa Tamazula S.A. in Guadalajara, Mexico, to squirt on your taco. You can get any two tacos and a drink for $5.50 or $6.50 with cheese added. I had the Asada tacos, generously filled with meat that was grilled and seasoned to perfection!
