This particular winter has revealed the emergence of another pair of brothers in the NFL, who are on the verge of accomplishing something quite remarkable. If the Giants win the Super Bowl on Sunday, then we will be witness to back to back Championship teams that had two brothers as winning quarterbacks.
When Eli Manning takes the field on Sunday, I am sure that the victory that his brother Peyton acquired last year, while leading the Indianapolis Colts to triumph, will be fresh in the young man's mind. Even if the Patriots prevail, which is a distinct possibility, especially since the team is thus far undefeated with an impressive 18-0 record, the two brothers can claim a very unique accomplishment that will unlikely be repeated for quite a while.
When is the last time that two brothers quarterbacked their respective teams to the Super Bowl in back to back years? To my knowledge this has never happened before. If the Giants happen to win, then it will be a lot of very sweet icing on the cake. Patriots should beware, for the psychological forces that are at work here are not very well understood, yet still so very powerful. They could easily surpass everything that the Patriots have going for them.
