Animal prints are chic and here to stay! This adorable monogram giraffe print dining set is not only a custom creation, it looks perfect in a Safari or African themed dining room or kitchen and mimics sets found in expensive home boutiques.

For this project, you will need:

- One plain wood dining set (table and chairs)

- Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer

- Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Ultra Flat Black

- Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Khaki

- Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Satin Brown Boots

- Krylon Clear Polyurethane

- Animal Print Trio stencil from American Home Stencil

- Large monogram letter stencil

- Medium grit sandpaper

- Tack cloth

- Masking tape

- Newspaper

Due to the size and nature of this project, it is best done outdoors with several layers of newspaper covering your workspace. When working with spray paint, always make sure your work area is well ventilated.

Begin with a solid wood dining set that is either unfinished or has had any paint or stain removed with stripper. Make sure any dirt or grime is not present on the wood surface. Gently sand the entire table and each of the chairs with medium grit sandpaper. Remove any excess dust after sanding with a tack cloth.

Prime each of the chairs and the table with Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer. Let the primer dry for one to two hours before continuing. Paint both the table and the chairs with three to four coats of Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Ultra Flat Black. Let the project cure overnight before continuing.

Secure the monogram stencil to the center of the table with masking tape. Spray the monogram with Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Khaki, making sure that no overspray comes in contact with the rest of the table top. Repeat this process with the top of the back of each of the chairs. Allow the monogram paint portions to dry for a couple hours before continuing.

Takeaways
  • This project is best created outdoors.
  • Your table should be free of any paint or stain before beginning.
  • Let the table and chairs dry overnight before bringing inside and using.

Oooh! I could totally picture that. Or, instead of using the giraffe print, decoupage in a palm tree print scrapbook paper. Just coat with an extra thick layer of polyurethane sealant for added protection and enjoy! :o)

How fun! You think these would fit in with my Palm Tree look? I already stuck some African stuff in with it because I couldn't decide between the two, so it might. LOL :-)
