I bet you often wonder
What did you do wrong
What caused a paradigm shift
In the bond of friendship
That was once so strong

You go back and forth in your mind
Trying to reason with yourself
Pointing the finger
At no one
Other than yourself
Analyzing
And reminding yourself
Of this or that

Believing...

That the demise of your friendship
Is all your fault
But don't be fooled
By the illusions portrayed by your toxic friend
Don't be confused by the accusations
It's not all your fault

Your toxic friend has perfected the skill
Of making you feel bad
By sending you on a never ending guilt trip
Over and over again

Your toxic friend has some serious issues
And you know this to be true
That's why you are on a never ending search
To finds ways to deal, cope with and/or eliminate
The toxicity from your life

You know your toxic friend
Doesn't have it all together
Whatever it may be
But yet and still
You try to understand
You try to be patient

You are no less than vigilant
In your countless efforts
To make the friendship last
To make if better somehow, someway
Maybe one day

But at some point the thought of being BFF
Becomes the question you begin to ask
Will this be the case for me and my toxic friend

Simply a hope or dream
That will never come to past
