Also with heating costs rising, everyone needs a break for all those electric, natural gas, oil and propane heat sources. Around 45 percent of our homes use one of these energy sources, and that goes to cooling and heating our homes. With just a few common tips can help us toward keeping our energy bill low or to at least manage them.

Here are a few tips on savings:

1. Install a digital thermostat to help reduce your heat while you are asleep or at work. You may save as much as 10 percent on the heating bills by turning back to 10 percent to around 15 percent for eight hours.

3. You may want to try to make sure your central point to which the air goes to the furnace is clear and also the door to that room is open so air can flow freely.

4. Try to install an insulator blanket on your water heater. Doing this will help reduce the effect cold air has on a heater located in a cool basement or the garage. Insulation around the exposed pipes leading to the heater also will conserve the heat.

5. Also keep your water heater and furnace free of debris so the air can flow freely and efficiently, while reducing the load to the systems.

6. Try to inspect the home for any leaks that may let in cold air. Also feel for any cold air coming in around your doors and windows and even the electrical outlets, try to seal off all cracks and leaks. Your windows are the least insulated parts of the home. Caulk or weather stripping or even by applying plastic to the windows to stop cold air from getting, this is all for warmth.
