Rudy Giuliani is done. And thank heavens for that. Running as a candidate for the Republican nomination for President of the United States, right from the beginning of his campaign he basically ignored all the other primaries and concentrated on Florida. The returns are now coming in for the Florida primary, and Giuliani has less than 17% of the vote - running third to John McCain's first place. To say he concentrated all of his efforts and all of his money on Florida - that's pretty pathetic.

It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy though could it? .....(and can you tell I'm being facetious?)

For a man who announced on national TV that he was leaving his wife for his mistress, without bothering to tell his wife first - he got his just rewards.

For a man who said he was at Grand Zero after 9/11 "as often, if not more, than most workers.... I was there working with them. I was exposed to exactly the same things they were exposed to. So in that sense, I'm one of them", when he wasn't - he got his just rewards.

For a man who's own daughter and son barely speak to him, and who's daughter refuses to even use his last name but goes by her mother's surname - he got his just rewards.

For a man who's own daughter had a link on her Facebook profile to Senator Barack Obama's campaign webpage (what does it tell you when your own daughter wouldn't even vote for you?) - he got his just rewards.

For a man who was hired by the government of Mexico City and given millions of dollars to help them tackle their crime problems, and then the said government discovered not only did Guiliani's strategy not work, but Guiliani himself didn't work - he got his just rewards.

For a man who billed the city of New York for his mayorial security services when he was using that security protection to go and see his then-mistress, Judith Nathan, while he was still married - he got his just rewards.

For a man who's enormous conceit and self-aggrandizement made it possible for him to run one of the worst Presidential campaign's in US political history - he got his just rewards.

For a nation who at this time in its history probably needs a good President more than ever before - we got our just rewards.

Wonderfully stated! And so poetic! $49 Million for one delegate! One delegate! But there is still one candidate trying to scare up votes using the politics of fear, and that's John McCain. We may have to wait until November before we can rid ourselves of him.

Great reporting of this! I sort of have mixed feelings... although I don't think he was the best candidate...I think that there are a lot worse in the race.

I'm glad he's out, too. I didn't think he had a chance.

Charlotte, that's what annoys me about him. A man who treats his wife and family badly isn't Presidential material as far as I'm concerned. As much as Bill Clinton was a pain with his affairs, I think he still truly loves his wife, never had any intentions of leaving her, and is an amazing father. You can't say that for Rudy!

I'm so glad he's out of the race! Yes, there are worse candidates out there, but really . . . if a person is selfish enough to leave his wife and two kids, can we really trust him to act in the interests of his constituents? Maybe we shouldn't judge a candidate by his/her personal life, but I just can't help thinking that this is a red flag.

Sussy, I've just never liked the guy since he announced on national TV that he was leaving his wife and his WIFE didn't know. Talk about cowardly and despicable :(

You summed it up well. I perhaps don't feel as strongly as you do, but it doesn't hurt my feelings at all that he's finished.
