If you are tired of your kitchen and want a different kind of look than you may want to consider giving your kitchen an antique look. This can be a very easy and budget friendly project. Following are a few tips ideas and suggestions on how to get started making your antique kitchen décor. The first thing you should do is start with your kitchen cabinets. In the kitchen your focal point is usually your kitchen cabinets. They are the first thing that catch people attention when they enter your kitchen. There are several different ways that you can give you kitchen an antique look.
You can try the staining method. In order to get started with the staining method you will need the following materials all of which can be found at your local Home Depot, Loews store. If you don't have one of these stores in your area you can always purchase the items online.
1. Deep dark stain
2. Paint Brush (at least 2)
3. Small sponges
4. Drop Cloth or Plastic garbage bags
Once you have all of your materials you can remove your cabinet doors and lay your doors on top of your drop cloth or plastic bags. Then you can apply the stain using your paint brush on one small section at a time, then use the dry sponge to rub it in. You can repeat this process until you get your desired antique look.
Another method that you could try to give your cabinets an antique look is by using sandpaper. You can remove your cabinets and lay them on a work surface and gently sand various sections of the cabinets. This particular method works well if your cabinets are already painted. The idea is to make the edges of your cabinets looks worn down.
If you would prefer something a little bit simpler you can purchase some antique knobs for your cabinets or add some antique molding that will really give it an antique feel. All of these methods are very easy to do and the supplies will not cost you much as all.
