For the past three weeks, I have found, to my surprise, glued to the television show Big Brother Seven. The premise of the show is this: a group of people are sequestered inside of a house with no television, no phones or any other electronic devices. Then each houseguest proceed to strategize and maneuver, trying to figure out a way to get rid of the other contestants. All of this is videotaped for the camera. In the end, there can be only two and the “evicted” contestants vote to determine, which of the two remaining houseguests will receive the half-a million dollars.

I watched Big Brother in the first season, but, after that, my tolerance of the show dwindled, and I ceased to watch it. However, Big Brother Seven is special, it is the “all star” season, which past contestants of Big Brother were voted in by viewers. It is one of those houseguest that, voted back in, which has renewed my interest in the show, and whom I wish to talk about.

Will is his name. Will was a contestant in Big Brother Two, and, in the end, he actually won the half-a-million dollars. He did this by manipulating and lying to everyone, which everyone did, but he was better at it than all of them put together.

Will has a bush of curly black hair, and is somewhere in his twenties. He has a winning smile, and a good sense of humor. I have been amazed, shocked, and admiring of Will’s skills at getting what he wants from his housemates. He is charming, affiable, smart, likeable and knows how to play up to the camera, and he is all this, while throwing his fellow contestants under the perpetual bus. As a viewer, one finds themselves blaming the person under the bus for their predicament and not Will. After all, if they trust a man who has come right out and said, that he is untrustworthy, then you get what you deserve.

Takeaways
  • Big Brother seven contestant Will manipulates everyone to get what he wants
  • Riichard III alludes to Machiavelli's "The Prince."
  • Will's motto is "work smarter not harder."
