Britney Spears - Suicide Threat

Britney Spears has threatened suicide at least twice this month. That's why she keeps being admitted to the hospital. The Guardian, a UK tabloid, reported that Britney Spears was rushed to the hospital last night by ambulance on a 5150 code that indicates that she poses a threat to herself or others.

By law, anyone who indicates that they might be suicidal, such as saying "I'm going to kill myself," must be taken seriously and committed to a hospital. If you ever want to get admitted to a hospital, all you have to do is utter four little words "I want to die," and you're in.

My guess, which I would bet all the money I have (not much) is that Britney Spears has threatened suicide in a bid to get help for herself. She most likely feels that her life is out of control, which it is, and wants someone to help her, She just doesn't know how to go about getting help.

Had she actually attempted suicide the last time she went to the hospital, after the bizarre stand off with police when she refused to give her children back to her ex husband, she would have been held for a lot longer than three days. The usual M.O. for a threatened suicide is three days. Someone who actually attempts suicide is usually held at the hospital longer.

At the hospital, the person will be watched closely. They will not be allowed to have any sharp objects or anything that they can use to hang themselves. They will be given medication and the attention of a psychiatrist. They will also attend group sessions with other people who are in the same boat.

Britney Spears does not want to die. People who really want to die do not "threaten suicide" but just do it. Every once in a while, one of the people who "threaten" makes good on their efforts. Usually, they want to be rescued and have their pain alleviated.
